Lemons 4

When life gives you lemons…

Is it time to sweeten your life by transforming the sour stuff?

Lemons 2 blog

Pardon the platitude. This is NOT a “Chin up, make the most of what you’ve got & jolly well be grateful for it” post. But I couldn’t resist the chance to blog about my musings after a huge storm blew down half a lemon tree in the garden where we live and I became immersed in them for a while. I love making & baking and I really hate waste, so I threw myself into processing the fruit. And there was A LOT… Over 33 kilos of lemons!

Transforming these acidic beauties into lemon curd, lemon jelly, lemon syrup, preserved lemons, lemon pickle, marmalade and candied peel was fun for me. Not the case for others! Some consider me bonkers for investing time & money in producing jars of lemony stuff and would rather have given/ thrown the fruit away. A perfect reminder (as if I needed it!) that it’s the individual’s perspective that matters. We are all unique. My clients tell me that they appreciate me listening to their distinctive story and working with them in a bespoke way.

I’m unique too. And may not be everyone’s cup of tea. It’s the reason I try to share as much about me & my approach on my website – so people can make an informed decision about working with me.

Back to the lemony stuff… I enjoy the process of transformation and the outcome has value to me & others (most of these yellow goodies will be gifts for friends and family who adore my preserves, all homemade with love).

I got to thinking how this relates to the work I do. Processing lemons is one thing, seeing the changes in my clients before & after our work together – well, that’s something truly uplifting

Being plagued by irrational thoughts does not bring lightness & joy.

Nor does being stuck in exhausting patterns of unnecessary or excessive rumination or anxiety.

Life-limiting phobias – no fun at all…

Being paralysed by procrastination – ughh, so frustrating.

Living with ‘unexplained’ chronic pain, such as fibromyalgia or IBS, so so awful.

Seeing the sadness turn to relief & joy as pain & despair falls away… well that’s really something to get out of bed for every day.

I feel beyond blessed to be on this journey.

Every new client that trusts me to work with them, brings more opportunities to turn sour s#*t into something positive, not only for the client but for all their loved ones too.

Your pain, anxiety, lack of confidence or irrational thoughts limits the lives of people around you too. And in case you haven’t heard of it, emotional contagion is a thing! Let this add fuel to the fire of the motivation to change – doing something great for yourself and others.

But it starts with you. It begins with you choosing to change. I’ve had some incredible teachers in my life, and one of them is Ali Campbell. No, not the founding member & lead singer of UB40, but the best-selling author & celebrity therapist who famously (well, famous in my book anyway!!) said:

You’re only ever one thought away from a totally new experience, and only one thought away from being well

And once you’ve had the thought “This is enough now, I’m ready to let go of this” and you turn that thought into action by booking a Discovery Call, you can let the lightness and sweetness begin.

And this is where my citrus analogy stops. Over 33kg of lemons takes DAYS to process. And the effort required is not inconsiderable! Chopping, slicing, squeezing, peeling, stirring, shredding… In complete contrast, releasing limiting beliefs, chronic pain, negative thoughts, unhealthy habits etc – even those that have been part of you for decades – can happen quickly & easily.

Some people are so ready to be free of whatever it is that’s making their life sour that the change happens within minutes. For others the changes are complex, connected to other things, people, situations that also need to change and an ‘identity’ change in some way so the full transformation can take longer or happen over a longer timescale if that’s what the client wants.

But without exception, clients experience some positive change following the first session. And it is easy! Things seem to happen effortlessly, small changes they decide to make every day to help their mind, body & soul align all fit in perfectly with their life and happiness continues to grow.

If any of this resonates, get in touch. Sometimes a simple conversation can change your life.
