Menopause Matters
If you’re struggling to understand the menopause, manage the mental or emotional changes you’re experiencing or alleviate the physical symptoms, I’m here to help – starting with a free webinar…
Menopause matters… and I speak from experience.
My journey into my “Second Spring” (as Chinese medicine so wonderfully calls it) has been manageable. But I know many others whose journeys have been more disorientating and problematic.
Thanks to Davina McCall & others, it’s a more mainstream topic but of course there’s still a long way to go and not least regarding investment into research on the impact of nutrition, exercise etc on the affects of this life change on women.
So that we’re all on the same page, technically the menopause is:
The time of life when a woman’s ovaries stop producing hormones and menstrual periods stop.
This precise definition feels like an oversimplification of the complex series of shifts & changes in the lead up, known as perimenopause, which can be years or even a decade. Imagine feeling like you’ve been losing your mind for years – apparently unable to concentrate fully, think clearly or control emotions – when all along it was a hormonal imbalance.
And then of course there’s post-menopause living…
A woman’s hormonal balance changes as she transitions into life without menstruation. Our reproductive function may be over but our life definitely isn’t!
I don’t know about you, but I finally feel like I’m piecing together enough experience, wisdom and emotional intelligence to make better decisions in my more ‘mature’ years and to lead a more joyful & fulfilling life…
And then the flipping hormones become unbalanced…
Symptoms such as hot flushes, brain fog and disturbed sleep are not exactly conducive to leading one’s best life. And with all this going on, and millions upon millions of women experiencing this right now, educating, informing, inspiring & supporting others really matters.
And if you’re not there yet, don’t think this doesn’t apply to you! Believe me when I say, it’s so much better to be prepared – to have an idea of what physical & emotional changes to expect and how you can begin to prepare your body & mind for the upcoming change.
Raising awareness with the guys in your life is important too. It’s was as confusing for my husband as it was for me when the cool body he was used to snuggling into turned into a red hot one! And they need to be on board to understand & respect any changes you make in diet, exercise etc.
In a recent meeting with fellow hypnotherapists, I was interested to hear one of the masters say that hypnotherapy for menopause was the ‘holy grail’.
We all agreed we can alleviate symptoms & support our clients to manage the transition more easily. But these affects are a result of hormonal imbalances, in our unique body, that has been shaped by our nutritional, emotional and lifestyle choices, not the work of the unconscious mind.
Having more tools in my toolkit to provide an holistic solution for my clients is important to me. Nutrition, exercise, breathing – a healthy focus on these can be a gamechanger for managing menopause.
That’s why I’m hosting a webinar next week with a wonderful colleague, Sheila Armstrong. Sheila has decades of experience as a practitioner in the NHS. She’s a menopause yoga teacher and specialist in women’s health.
Sheila and I met through our interest in sustainable wellness – both passionate about Ringana’s fresh products and award-winning environmental & ethical approach. It’s even more crucial to avoid harmful toxins during menopause since these can adversely affect already imbalanced hormones. So anything that’s entirely fresh, pure & organic has got to be worth knowing about!
If you, or anyone you know, would benefit from some extra insight and getting some straight answers to your questions then come & join us online on Wednesday 12th April at 13.00 GMT/ 14.00 CET.
And since it’s this particular time of year, we’ll be doing our Easter Bunny thing and giving some gifts away.
